metamorpho

...but what i really mean to say is, have you ever wanted to be a sound?

a specific sort of sound?

and if so, what sound? a specific noise in a song? a particular sort of cheepy-cheepy coming from a bird in a nearby tree?

would that it were so easy. alas, for there are no chrysalii for such things. ;.;

vroom vroom

so while we bitched and moaned about the steady decline of civilisation of Speed after it had undergone (underwent? XD) the transition from "Speedvision" to "Speedchannel" and finally became known as just "Speed," some good came of it as well. for one, it's incredibly satisfying and interesting to watch someone who so obviously is made for and loves the job they do, as Dave Despain so evidently is. and for two, while i know their numbers for F1 viewership in the US still leave something to be desired, they've held onto it and stuck with it---which is more than previous Faux Fox attempts at carrying F1 had done.

but apparently, for the 2005 season, it's been announced that CBS is going to broadcast tape-delayed versions of 3 races from this season, with a fourth (Canada) being aired live. the remainder shall be aired on Speed, as we expected.

here's the schedule as it stands:

Speed races:

Sat, Mar 5 Australia
Sat, Mar 19 Malaysia
Sun, Apr 3 Bahrain
Sun, May 22 Monaco
Sun, Jun 19 United States
Sun, Jul 3 France
Sun, Jul 10 Britain
Sun, Jul 24 Germany
Sun, Jul 31 Hungary
Sun, Aug 21 Turkey
Sun, Sep 4 Italy
Sun, Sep 11 Belgium
Sun, Sep 25 Brazil
Sat, Oct 8 Japan
Sat, Oct 15 China

CBS races
Sun, Apr 24 San Marino
Sun, May 8 Spain
Sun, May 29 Europe (at Nurburg, Germany)
Sun, Jun 12 Canada

i'm a bit confused as to why CBS didn't try to get the US GP, because if the goal of the company in charge of television rights distribution for US races was to raise the level of awareness of F1 in the US, this seems a rather strange way to go about it. am also a bit mixed---the coverage of those four races isn't likely to be particularly good. i'm all for raising awareness of the sport, and for something other than NASCAR to gain some small percentage of the general populace's brain when asked to consider the words "auto racing," but i do hope the costs to the existing fanbase don't outweigh the benefits.

then again, who am i kidding---it's all advertising anyway. :P

never take these things out my ears

Last.fm, i feel confident in saying, is the most brilliant thing EVER. this is no exaggeration. try it yourself and see.

however, it also serves to remind me that there are a TON of songs that are really quite lovely until the bloody vocalist has to go and open their mouth and ruin it. XD

also, i don't know HOW i ever missed the usage of "swing the heartache" in X's "Crucify My Love" before.

Last.FM is, like, whoa. o.o;;;
