November 29, 2003dale is my hero.am now back from wedding. it was a very nice wedding. granted, haven't been to so many, but i do get the feeling this may well be something i think of this wedding in the future as well. really, quite nice. mostly cos v. non-trad. liked muchly. am too exhausted to say much other than a large "FUFUFUFUFUFUFU! XDXD" at the fact that Dale (who arranged and wrote a bunch of the music for the pianist) arranged a v. nice solo piano version of finally, what you all came here for: (as always, thumbnail will open larger version in another window. beware; it's HUGE. but i thought you'd like it that way. ;) ) will give rundown of keeki later, in likely excruciating detail. know this for now, however: pumpkins were white chocolate painted with Dust, which is the only substance that can really colour chocolate well, as chocolate will seize up and not cooperate if one adds normal food colourings to it. moulded & painted by myself. fwee. did so love mixing those colours. <3 therefore, pumpkins (including the large ones, which were the size of fists and completely solid) were completely edible. score. acorns, on the other hand, were real. and while acorns may certainly be edible, these were glazed so as to preserve and also make sure anything living inside them didn't decide to make a surprise appearance. glaze was acrylic + nontoxic, but still would not have been advisable to eat. these were removed before serving, but were a v. cute biproduct of brainstorming while we were at Blackhawk Farms Raceway earlier this past autumn. *yawns hugely* right. way past my bedtime. that and open bar. no rum or sour mix, so no rum + cokes for many and no amaretto sours for me. but amaretto + 7Up is not so bad. and Bailey's + kohi = much wub indeed. XD also, way too much sugar. but you knew that already. right, sleepy. and am shivering in cold so much can barely type. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. November 26, 2003public service announcementthis is a freezer. this is a freezer full of keeki. any questions? (this post brought to you by: a frozen butter stockpile. XD) November 25, 2003dance with me!as of approximately 4:30pm CST today, i am free. i shan't be returning to work until Monday, 8th December 2003. blessed be, indeed. don't know that this means terribly much for you---that has yet to be seen. but i'm sure you can be happy for me, can't you? ^-^ ah, but there shall be keeki~~! keeki for all. after Saturday, when keeki is due. watch for it. November 18, 2003gentlemen, BEHOLD!the very first volume of Aqua Teen Hunger Force is out on DVD as of today. (heh, now Rob has to buy a DVD player like he said he would if this ever happened. XDXD) November 16, 2003hi, i'm janni, and i'm 9 years old...dubbed Iron Chef has the best quotes. previous favourite was super-schoolgirl-giggling actress as one of the panel of judges giggling madly and proclaiming that a dish "ahahahaha...turned masculine in my mouth!" in a very high-pitched, sweet, girlish voice. would love to know what she originally said. XD today, however, this has been displaced by another super-schoolgirl-giggling actress on the panel of judges for the sea cucumber battle betwixt IC Chen and challenger Fujiwara Tsuguo, apparently the top of Shanghai cooking in Japan. upon tasting a dessert item, the line was, "For dessert...I want the real fun to start when it gets into my mouth." aieee. XD in other news, one more tier and we've got a whole keeki! minus fillings, frostings, and other accoutrements, but still. next tier shall be done next weekend. ^^ November 15, 2003ride the pig!short but interesting interview with Merideth Mulroney of Media Blasters here regarding slightly more detail on the impending Invader ZIM DVD situation. of particular interest is the descriptions of the two ideas so far for the limited edition box. i hope the plush piggie wins. *^^* November 09, 2003straight outta keekilandnow spinning: "the birthday party." grandmaster flash + the furious five. i really wish i could tell you what stage of the keeki i'm currently at. unfortunately, to do so would give away most of the theme i've got in mind for this keeki---so alas, must be cryptic at this point in time. i should take photos, however---won't exactly be posting a step-by-step guide to what i did to create the keeki once it's done, but it'd be nice to have some sort of pictographic evidence as to the evolution of the keeki. must illustrate the wonder of keeki architecture, after all. ^^ let it just be said at this point in time that Sugarcraft, Inc. rules. they got my order here unbelievably quickly, even though i only opted for UPS Ground shipping. prices were v. reasonable, and the stuff i got from them has been top-notch so far. am particularly enamoured of Dust (and not in an HDM sense, either), but shan't go further into it than that at the current juncture. let it also be said that right now, as of about 8pm CST, my house currently smells like a peculiar mix of curry (of the Thai variety, and involving coconut milk) and chocolate. very strong smell of chocolate. and the two smells together really aren't quite as odd as one would think. bet your house doesn't smell like mine. XD my neck is killing me. off to eat and watch something other than Rallye Great Britain (which i'll be taping when it's run again later on---long story). November is ganging up on me. eee! *scuttles off* November 07, 2003MOOSEY FATE!WOW. this is almost too good to be true. it seems that Media Blasters has acquired Invader Zim. more importantly, they'll be releasing it in three double-disc DVD sets starting in Spring of 2004, as well as a limited-edition full box set. November 01, 2003a night like thissaw Alien: the Director's Cut in the theatre earlier today. we have it on LD at home, only with the extra scenes not cut back into the movie where they belong. but still. the print looked very, very nice. and the movie itself is still amazing. on so many levels. niggling continuity issues that crop up here and there aside, the model work is fantastic (won't be seeing any of that anymore, will we? i mean, since everyone seems fairly well convinced that "digital is always better," and more importantly, that computer graphics are better than anything and everything that went before, hi art of modelling and puppetry and animatronics and claymation and stop motion and...and...); the score is appropriate and uses tons of silence and ambient noise in addition to not feeling the need to have music going nonstop throughout; the actors do their job but are not over the top; the lighting is really good; the sets look really real; everything altogether looks and feels more REAL than lots of sci-fi epics done in more recent time. in large part, i'd say this is because this film was not afraid to be dirty. this sort of thing looks too clean for my taste these days, honestly. plus, suspense! and Giger's designs. god. it's really cool, but it makes me sad at the same time. i'm really glad to have seen it in a theatre, though. also, there was a trailer for Alien Vs. Predator before the movie. due out in August of 2004. they're finally doing it. after talking about it for years. it had better not suck, dammit. >P |
