hungry hungry hoodscoops

we spent most of the day on a fairly futile search for a stupid AC adapter for my camera. which was unfortunate.

but it also put valuable miles on the STi.

and it was a gorgeous day out. and we saw a nicely kept old burgundy-ish Triumph and a bright white bug-eyed Sprite. which, unfortunately, i wasn't quick enough to take pictures of.

however, it was still a day fairly nicely spent.

and finally, qualifying for the F1 GP of Canada and...Diesel! what more could one want in one's day? ^^

(well, we also went to the library. and stocked up on got more books. Cart and Cwidder and i have an appointment...^^)

$400-500 new? How unsurprising, especially since it's 4.0 megapixels. *_*

I was thinking about getting a 3.2 megapixel Sony Cybershot at work--it's at $279 right now--but I'm actually trying to save money at the moment for Saiyuki v.2 and the 5th HP book, among other things. ^_^;;

Spaz: if you really want, i can crop it later. ^^

Beeru-mononononono: you're just being silly, now. everyone knows Bunnicula only ate vegetables! that'd be like expecting Keito-chan to start gnawing on your tasty, tasty arm meat when you go visit her! really, some people...XD

*begins to tremble in fear of rabbits* They're not going to turn into bunnicula and attack me, will they? ;_;

Hey, i thought you were going to crop me out of that pic of Diesel! >(

Posted by: Spaz at June 16, 2003 05:57 PM

thanks! ^^ yep, i'm pretty pleased with it. and as i said earlier, that's not even its top quality on display above. ^^

price range...around $400-$500 new; mine was a factory refurb with extended warranty that ended up being around $290 + a 5-year extended warranty for around $60 (i think...can't remember) so it ended up being probably more up-to-date with factory firmware and whatnot than a "new" one would be, plus it's got a 5.5 year warranty on it (the refurb itself came with a 6 month warranty)---still less than the cost of what it would've been new. ^^ 4.0 megapixels. there's a review going into far more detail than i could off the top of my head (i'm still just playing with it; haven't really learned all its workings yet) here. ^^

Thus giving new meaning to the phrase "plugged in," ne? >D

Nice pictures it takes. What was the price range, and how many megapixels? ^_^

Rob: thanks! ^^ you should look it up and take a look at some of the features. it is pretty sweet---am very excited about it, actually. first decent camera i've ever had. i know, i know, it's digital, but still...

Beeru-chan: well, Diesel is full-grown. she's around 3 or 4 years old; we're not entirely sure exactly how old she is. most of what you see is fur---she's got a very thick coat. she weighs around 6.5 lbs, which her doctor tells us is just right as an adult weight for her frame, and if she can maintain that weight, she should be in great shape. she's pretty small, too, as far as full-grown rabbits go---there are many who get up to 20 lbs. or more, and aren't overweight---they're just actually that big! i'm not talking jackrabbits here, either---which aren't actually rabbits as we know them and are an entirely different species, but i'm getting way off track here. XD

Elva-chan: well, i'll be taking a lot of photographs indoors and particularly in my house, hence why the AC adapter would've been nice. but with that price, and with the fact that i've got a charger and NiMHs already---should just invest in a few more NiMHs. really, that's just outrageous. :P
(that, and if you stick me in a wheel and make me run, i generate my OWN electricity. so hooking up an AC adapter to my wheel would be beneficial even outdoors! XD)

Posted by: janni at June 16, 2003 02:21 PM

Well, why do you need the adapter? One usually carries a camera around and there's no guarantee that you'll find an outlet, especially outdoors, ne? ^_-

Is that supposed to be a rabbit or my worst nightmare? She's HUGE. XD

Posted by: berubeing at June 16, 2003 12:26 PM

ehh, duh. way to read, Tiger, you fucking prick! That's a sweet camera, man. dig muchly.

Kate-chan: thanks. ^^ yep, Diesel is v. gorgeous. she's shedding like mad now, too---must mean summer's really here! XD

Rob: oh, definitely a new camera. XD i like the side mirror one the best, too---i like the way it came out a lot. details on the camera are in the comment i left for Elva below. it's nice. that's not its highest-quality setting, either. ^^

Posted by: janni at June 16, 2003 11:16 AM

Hey is that a new digital camera? or a reglar camera? I totally dig the photo of the side view mirror, etc. Those photos came out really, really sharp for being taken from a moving car.

God Damn it Tiger, you fucking prick!

Minolta DiMage F100; the adapter is a 3v one for which Minolta's part number is AC-6. most places said they'd be able to order it, but i was trying to actually find it yesterday.

(what REALLY sucked was when one store that i called said "oh, we've got it," and we drove about 45 minutes to go get it...only to find the guy who'd answered the phone was confused, and they didn't have it after all. --;;;)

and actually, i've looked around a bit online now (which is what i probably should have done in the first place) and seen that people generally want between $30-$50 for this thing as it's so specialised. O.O;;; so either i'm watching eBay very carefully (i expected it to be around $20 or so) or else i'll just stick to all the rechargeable NiMHs i've got. that's a disgusting amount for an adapter. XD
