how the beaujolais is raining

saw a book with the following title in the window of one of the antiquarian bookshops up the street on the way in this morning:

I WATCHED A WILD HOG EAT MY BABY!!!

(parse that sentence, if you dare. XD)

in other news, Sarah D. rocks my world yet again for pointing Penzeys Spices out to me. all sorts of lovely bulk spices that can be ordered online, and the quality is supposed to be fantastic. and really well-priced, too. just say no to McCormick + their ilk! will likely have more to say once i've obtained things from them, and will probably say it over at LtS, as it's meant more for these sorts of things. XD oh, and take a look at those peppermills. are they not amazing? O.O;;;

in still other news, may or may not be meeting my sister for lunch today. was definitely supposed to; however, it now depends on whether she can beg, borrow, and/or steal enough money to get down here and join me.*

why, you don't ask? the reason is simple.

someone stole her pants. yesterday.

more details will (hopefully) be forthcoming. she hasn't given me any yet, as she was too busy doing silly little things like trying to call the bank and report theft of her ATM card and all that. some people just have an appalling lack of priorities. XD

but i do wonder---aside from how her pants were stolen (such as, were they on her?)---what was the motivation of the thief? was this a "Down With Pants!" motivated crime?** was it an "Oooh, Those Pants Are Lovely And I Must Have Them" type of crime? or was it a simple, boring old case of trying to snatch her wallet away and coming up with a whole handful of pants instead?

i may be rather upset if it turns out that it's something as simple as she went to the gym and someone broke into her locker and stole them. after all, i've got such amusing images in my head now. it almost makes me want to do crude stick-figure drawings of all the scenarios for pant-theft circling around my head. and i'd ask if this was wrong of me, except i know she'd be at least as amused as i am if i did. XD i <3 my sister.

...and in still other other news, i am that sort of utterly exhausted this morning. you wouldn't think a half an hour less sleep than usual would make much difference, but it does. i'm the sort of tired where it's not just a big cup of coffee that's needed to make one even able to focus one's eyes properly; instead, a veritable full-body thrust overboard into a gigantic vat of coffee would probably be necessary. not too hot a vat, obviously. rather deliciously warm. 'cept i bet it would begin to irritate the skin after awhile. but it's an interesting thought. although now i'm left thinking about Janet Jackson, for some reason, and it's not helping matters any. >.<;;;

more as it develops, unless i completely black out at the keys...in which case, lucky you. XD

* = i'll spring for her lunch if need be, but i unfortunately lack the means and/or skills necessary to magically teleport money to her for the cost of her transit. although if i did have such skill, wouldn't it make more sense to either transport her directly here and/or transport myself directly up somewhere to meet her? and why would i have such a bloody long commute to complain about? questions, questions. XD

** = i know that Fi, for instance, is very strongly anti-pants. but i don't think even she would go to such extremes. unless my sister was a really cute boy---something which i'm nearly certain she is not. but i'm digressing. again. XD

XD XD XD

i am SO full of coffee right now that it's not even funny. should take advantage of this disgusting spurt of energy immediately. XD

Fi: hrrm, if i'm still this awake by the time Mariam gets here (which she is; more about that in a moment), perhaps that can be our lunchtime project. if anything comes of it, i'll scan it later. XD

Rob: really? heh. that's really cool. if there's a train going to my house that actually is *stopping* at Mars, perhaps. that's always the problem, really---most trains just blow right past Mars. it's really rather sad, as it would be entertaining to tell people you've just dropped someone off on Mars, wouldn't it? XD

Dudette,

There's a Penzey's in Oak Park not far from my house. Next time I give you a ride downtown, instead you can go to OP and go to Penzeys and then I can drop you off at Mars. Come on, let me drop you off at Mars. I always want to drop someone off at Mars. Or I could just get some stuff for you next time I'm by there. Oh, the spices are excellent, by the way.

janni likes to cook and bake. a lot. but mostly? she likes to sharpen her knives. because a dull knife is a dangerous knife, and we simply can't have that...

about this layout:
this is acid reflux v. 5.0 of Headphones Save Lives. featuring the ebullient Emperor Chairman Kaga from the fine Fuji TV show Ryori no Tetsujin and seen in the US on the Food Network as Iron Chef. revel in his mastery of bell peppers!
