TO GILLIAN~~~!

audio: "sonic generator." elastica.

guess i was too rushed to remember to mention this after practice Friday, but i have indeed found out how it feels to be Gillian courtesy of Friday's rehearsal.

know how she's notorious for standing onstage looking absolutely bored out of her mind during gigs?

yep.

i was stand-in drummer (using my keyboard, of course, since i've never really even tried to play a real drum kit before) for a song which i shall not name which we were working on on special request for this party we're playing coming up, right? incredibly simple and boring drum bit. and repetitive. for an age. hence, glazed over look on my face, me nearly falling of my stool, etc, etc. fun had by all. XD

and in news of another Gillian (i am such a dork), yesterday was yet another of those silly X-Files marathons that FX likes to run whenever there's a holiday...but it was actually really good! rather than being of the "viewer's choice" sort (which are good for different reasons, but only if you have loads of time on your hands and are patient, as you don't know what they'll play till it's actually on), it was just a marathon...but it seemed they chose mostly the best episodes out of the entire series. some crap mixed in, of course (like that Stephen King cowritten one which my sister loathes), but THREE of my favourites back-to-back made me very happy. didn't watch them (was busy), but i did tape them. "Bad Blood," "Triangle," and "Arcadia." and later on, "War of the Coprophages"!!!!!!

saw the end of the movie again last night, too...and hadn't remembered the correlation between one of the ending shots of the movie and the very last shot of the TV series. (yes, i did actually end up watching it. despite having given up on the show LONG ago. sorta by accident...and once i started watching, i couldn't stop. not cos it was good...it was in fact a huge, steaming mound of utter and complete shite and if i were a really big fan of this series, i'd still be writing angry and recriminating letters to Chris Carter even as i type this! but you know how sometimes when you start watching something, even something bad...you get to the point where you're curious to know what the hell happens, so you keep watching anyway? how it could possibly all be wound up? that, my friends, is what happened to me. i've wasted two hours of my life on far worse things, but it was still a waste. >P )

as for the weekend, spent a good portion of it digging up chunks of my backyard and actually planting my garden. ^-^ here's hoping some of it actually grows and isn't eaten up entirely by other creatures before i have the chance to harvest some of it! i don't mind sharing, but that's exactly it...they have to share with me. i mean, since i planted the veggies and all. XD

so, am quite sore. lots of hard, manually-intensive labour, yo! O.O;; but fun. and good. i enjoyed it, ultimately. even if i did definitely get to my scary, obsessive "must get this done with NOW or die trying" point a couple of different times...but that's good, cos it gets me to get stuff done. XD

also made nummy Thai iced coffee. what a wonderful thing it is, to be able to make it at home and not have to go to a restaurant for it. ^-^ and for this, i am eternally admiring of La Lechera...who needs condensed milk when you can have sweetened condensed milk?!?!? nummy indeed. must make more when i get home. XD

worked a bit on my disc for the caffeine swap, but am nowhere near assembly yet. must remedy this situation posthaste. XD

perhaps more later. dunno. i have the most gigantic grilled chicken caesar salad sitting next to me right now. or rather, half of one. which i should probably finish before it gets gross...

(oh, and back to the X-Files thing? it's all Mariam's fault. just so you know. XD oh, and i should also mention that they played "Home" as well, which is a really great and disturbing episode...but Spaz refuses to watch it ever, ever again. it disturbed him that greatly. which i suppose i can understand. wonder if he finds Dead Alive more disturbing...? XD)

janni likes to cook and bake. a lot. but mostly? she likes to sharpen her knives. because a dull knife is a dangerous knife, and we simply can't have that...
