CAN YOU FEEL IT?

: some happy hardcore remix of the various musics from Tetris...er, let's play some Tetris, motherfucker! XD

wheeeee!:

damn you. XD this is all your fault. i only wish i knew what the hell i was listening to, but i s'pose we can't always get what we want, right?

anyway, it seems lately that i've entered into a "hrrm, why don't i get more games?" phase. XD dusting off the NES 8-bit recently seems to have triggered this in me, mostly...although i did recently buy One Piece Mansion and The Italian Job for the PSX...but while both are reasonably fun (considering they were only $9.99 each, new), i haven't felt the need to play either one obsessively yet.

the first system i ever got was the original Sega Genesis (or Megadrive, to anyone not in the US). not its wussier Genesis 2 or (Majesco) Genesis 3 counterparts...but the first one, the real deal. it only could've been more real, in fact, had i got the one that came packaged up with Altered Beast. but, i digress. XD i'd long been a fan of the NES...in fact, had regularly commandeered it over at the house of these two girls whose mother used to babysit me (i was the oldest of the three of us kids there at the time). never had one of my own, however.

thing was, after i got that Genesis...didn't have money for games. and as i've mentioned numerous times, i grew up rather poor...so for gifts and such, there were more important (and less expensive) things to spend money on than video games. as i was too young to hold a job at that point, well...no money=no games. and so, i had the system, but nary a thing but Sonic the Hedgehog to play on it.

time passed, and a friend decided to get rid of all his video gaming stuff...and knowing that i didn't have much in the way of Genesis games, he gave his most prized ones to me. thusly, i got my hands on Phantasy Star 3, Phantasy Star 4, and Toejam and Earl. at the time, i was busy with Earthworm Jim, which i'd managed to get my hands on used at a local video store. and oh, did i love that game. it frustrated the HELL out of me, of course...but still i played. to this day, my friend Eric claims he's never heard me swear more, and in fact had never heard me swear like that previous to the first day he came over to my house and i was playing that particular game. XD

the used bins in video stores became my very good friends as the video stores began phasing out rental of Genesis games in favour of Nintendo 64 and Playstation games...unfortunately, i was mostly beaten to the punch and by the time i got there, all that was left were all manner of sports games which i had pretty much no interest whatsoever in playing. i did manage to retrieve at least one good thing at this time, though...Earthworm Jim 2. whee. also purchased a couple of crap games, but i won't recount what they were at this time...mainly purchased cos they were cheap, and i was desperate for something new to play. XD

and that's pretty much where my sad little Genesis collection has stood ever since. and i know there are plenty of good games that were put out for the Genesis...and right now, i'm a little mad at myself for not having picked up a Sega CD when i had the chance to awhile ago (my main drive at that time being the need to play Baku Baku, a fabulously WRONG and deceptively cute and innocent puzzle game introduced to me by my friend Kevin), as that would expand my options even more. so lately, i've been poking around and reading up about various things involving the Genesis and figuring out which games i still really want to track down...i've been doing this a bit with the NES as well, but for some reason, i've been focussing a bit more on Genesis games lately.

in case you wondered what i was doing with my time. and all this makes me want to go re-read Game Over again. because yes, i am exactly that sort of dork. and because i can't find any similarly-minded books about Sega. XD

will i ever finish Lunar 2 and go on to finally play Persona?!?!?

who knows? XD i hope to, one day. maybe even later this year...? XD

janni likes to cook and bake. a lot. but mostly? she likes to sharpen her knives. because a dull knife is a dangerous knife, and we simply can't have that...
